The MBSR programme is an 8-week course developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn and associates at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1979 and is now internationally acclaimed with a growing body of research supporting its potential benefits. The MBSR curriculum incorporates techniques such as meditation, gentle mindful movement and mind-body exercises to help you learn how to cope with stress and make positive shifts in attitudes, behaviours, relationships and to facilitate personal growth and enhanced self-care.
The programme consists of eight weekly two-hour classes during which you will also be given daily home practice assignments designed to help you develop a disciplined and nurturing meditation practice. Classes take the form of instruction and the experience of a variety of guided meditation practices linked to group discussions around the challenges, benefits, and strategies of developing an ongoing home practice.
